Accessibility

This portfolio is built to work for everyone: with a mouse, keyboard, touch, screen reader, or with larger text, higher contrast or less motion. It aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with AAA contrast in High Contrast mode.

Accessibility Mode is off.

Settings

Open Accessibility Settings with the accessibility button in the top-right corner, by pressing ?, or from the second skip link at the top of every page. Choices are saved in this browser only.

  • Accessibility Mode turns on everything below in one switch.
  • Dark Theme (or Match My Device) for a calm, low-glare version.
  • High Contrast: the strongest contrast between text and background (at least 7:1) with clear borders, in whichever theme you use. It switches on automatically if your device is set to increase contrast.
  • Larger Text: about 20% bigger. Browser zoom up to 200% also works.
  • Underline Links and a Stronger Focus Outline so links and your keyboard position are always obvious.
  • Pause Animations stops the carousel, floating, sliding and the welcome. Your device's “reduce motion” setting is respected automatically.
  • Sound Effects (the speaker button in the header) are off by default and never play on their own.

Keyboard

Everything can be reached with the keyboard. Single-key shortcuts can be turned off in Accessibility Settings if they clash with your assistive technology.

Screen Readers

  • Each page has one main heading and a logical heading outline; use your heading shortcut to skim.
  • Landmarks mark the header, navigation and main content; “Skip to Content” jumps past the header.
  • Images and videos have text descriptions; decorative graphics are hidden.
  • Carousels, the image viewer and panels announce what they are and where you are (for example “3 of 12”).
  • The case study carousel moves on by itself, but it pauses when you hover or focus it, after you use it, and with its pause button; screen readers aren't interrupted while it moves.

Known Limitations

  • Some embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos may not have captions. Ask for a transcript anytime.

Getting Around

  • Press Tab first on any page for a Skip to Content link.
  • Pages are organised with headings and landmarks (header, navigation, main) for screen readers.
  • The case study carousel pauses when focused or hovered, and has a pause button. Every image and video has a description.
  • In the image viewer, use ← → to browse and Esc to close. Focus returns to where you were.
  • Browser zoom works up to 200% with nothing cut off.
