The Challenge
Intelligence reporters sanitize sensitive information and deliver it across appropriate classification tiers. Our research question: how might the design of an interface automate the tiered reporting process, so reporters can team with AI more efficiently and knowledgeably?

We framed the problem around three questions. Oversight: how does the interface communicate AI recommendations and data modifications across tiers so analysts stay in control? Agency: how does it support deliberate analyst involvement throughout the process? Trust calibration: how does it convey AI capabilities to analysts of varying experience, so they can judge how far to rely on it?

Understanding the Reporters
We researched with intelligence reporters to understand their key workflows and where they slow down. Four pain points surfaced: senior reporters lack tools for pattern analysis, which makes team performance hard to monitor; a lack of tailored resources makes mentorship and growth difficult; distinguishing policy requirements from customer needs is challenging; and urgent, evolving requests interrupt routine work and affect team members differently.

We distilled the research into Raymond, a senior-level reporter with fifteen years of experience. He provides strategic oversight of reporting operations, resolves complex policy questions and maintains relationships with key intelligence consumers. A journey map of his day showed where support would matter most.

The Solution
LogIQ detects issues early and guides decisions. It turns reporting into a connected, intelligent system that makes relationships across information visible and actionable, and it supports senior reporters with four features.

Feature One
Video Summary
Gives reporters context on detected issues, including edits made, risk concerns, relevant policies and helpful examples, in a video format. Key chapters allow quick navigation, with the option to view key insights when time is limited.

Feature Two
Live Listening
A built-in AI feature that supports analysts during virtual meetings by listening in real time and bringing in relevant sources, policies and reports based on the conversation.

Feature Three
Custom Agent Autonomy
A slider sets the balance between the reporter's involvement and the agent's autonomy, from monitoring autonomous activity to planning, delegating and executing tasks alongside the agent. Changing the level shapes the agent's behavior, its goals and how it supports tasks.

Feature Four
Query Bot
Instead of pulling from the entire Logic Lattice, reporters select and drag specific nodes to create a source-specific Query Bot. That allows targeted questions and quick retrieval of relevant material during meetings or as a tool within the reporting workflow.
“Raymond, a senior reporting analyst, begins another busy day by opening LogIQ. With competing priorities across several active projects, he uses it to quickly surface the most urgent issues requiring his attention.”
Benefits to Reporters
Video summaries help senior reporters quickly grasp issues and surface relevant sources, which can be shared with the team as a learning resource. Custom agents help them guide their team by addressing specific issues and reinforcing improvements without their constant involvement. And LogIQ organizes current and historical data into one archival, centralized source of information.

Beyond LAS
UX Y'all Graduate Symposium
My partner, Amaya Hush, and I presented at UX Y'all, where we introduced Logiq and walked attendees through our design process. We shared the thinking behind the project, how we approached the problem, and the process that shaped our work. The experience gave us an opportunity to share our work with the UX community, exchange ideas, and reflect on the value of communicating not just the final product, but the thinking behind it
